๐Ÿ”’ Trezor Start Guide

Set Up Your Trezor Wallet Safely & Securely

โš ๏ธ **CRITICAL SAFETY NOTE:** Always download software and firmware ONLY from the **official Trezor website** (trezor.io). Never enter your Recovery Seed on a computer screen.

๐Ÿ“ฆ Step 1: Unbox and Verify Authenticity

Before connecting your device, ensure the packaging is tamper-proof and sealed. A genuine Trezor device comes with a security hologram and specific seals that indicate it hasn't been opened.

๐Ÿ’ป Step 2: Install Trezor Suite

Trezor Suite is the recommended application for managing your wallet. It offers enhanced security and an integrated interface.

  1. Download the Official App: Go to the official Trezor website (suite.trezor.io) and download the desktop application. **Do NOT use search engines** to find the download linkโ€”type the address directly.
  2. Install and Open: Install the application on a trusted, malware-free computer.
  3. Connect Device: Plug your Trezor device into your computer using the provided USB cable.

Your Trezor will prompt you to install the latest official firmware. This process ensures the device is running the most secure software.

  1. Confirm on Device: Trezor Suite will show the firmware installation steps. You must confirm the firmware signature and installation directly on your physical Trezor screen.
  2. Wait for Completion: The device will restart after the installation is complete. **Do not unplug** the Trezor during this process.
๐Ÿšจ **SECURITY ALERT:** If the device already has firmware installed, perform a **Factory Reset** to ensure there are no pre-existing keys. Follow the on-screen prompts in Trezor Suite.

๐Ÿ”‘ Step 4: Create Wallet and Backup Seed

This is the most critical step. The Recovery Seed (usually 12, 18, or 24 words) is the **MASTER BACKUP** of your entire wallet.

  1. Select 'Create New Wallet': Choose this option in Trezor Suite.
  2. Write Down Your Seed: The Trezor screen will display the words one by one. **Write them down, in order,** on the provided physical Recovery Seed cards.
  3. Verify and Store: Trezor Suite may ask you to confirm a few random words. After confirmation, store the card(s) **offline** in a secure, fireproof, and hidden location.

๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Step 5: Set a PIN and Name Your Device

A PIN is required every time you connect your Trezor to a computer. It protects your device if it is lost or stolen.

  1. Set a PIN: Choose a 4 to 9 digit PIN. The numbers on the computer screen are scrambled, and you enter the corresponding location on the physical Trezor screen. **Do not use easily guessed numbers.**
  2. Confirm PIN: You will be asked to re-enter the PIN.
  3. Name Your Device: Give your Trezor a recognizable name (e.g., "MyTrezorHome").
